Putting our knowledge &
experience to work for you …
Larry R. Humes has spent the majority of his 32-year career honing his skills in higher education marketing and public relations. He began as a staff writer for The Florida Times-Union and as a stringer for United Press International, receiving national recognition for his articles and editorials. From 1985 to 1990, he served as associate director of News & Public Affairs at the University of Florida. He assisted with implementing public relations policy at UF and specifically helped the institution deal with a negative image created by an athletic scandal and the serial murders of five students. Stories written by his staff regularly appeared in national media, resulting in CASE awards for three consecutive years as one of the five best teams nationally recognized for its excellence in news writing.
Throughout the 1990s, Humes served as associate vice president for marketing & public relations at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. During that period, the school enjoyed an increasingly national reputation and is consistently ranked first in the South among all comprehensive liberal arts institutions by U.S. News & World Report. Most recently, Humes served as vice president of marketing and communication for Collegis (acquired in 2004 by SunGard Higher Education), the leading provider of technology-related services to higher education. In that role, he supported not only the Orlando-based company but many of its more than 100 client colleges and universities. Humes currently serves as director of marketing for The IMS Global Learning Consortium, an international organization whose mission is to enable high-quality, accessible, and affordable learning experiences.
